Fitzpatrick's Tavern brings a slice of Irish charm to Solvang, delivering a relaxed full-service dining experience centered on hearty, classic Irish fare. Located just off 1st Street, this spot feels like a local gathering place where families and visitors alike can settle in for a comforting meal after a day exploring town.

The atmosphere leans into the casual pub vibe without feeling rushed—tables are often filled with groups enjoying a meal or a pint, and the space is friendly enough to bring your dog along. The servers are generally courteous, though some guests note the service can occasionally feel a bit distracted during busy periods. Given its popularity, especially over holidays, a wait for seating is not uncommon but is usually worthwhile.

The kitchen leans heavily on traditional Irish staples, with some crowd-pleasers standing out. Shepherd’s Pie and Chicken Pot Pie are reliable choices, delivering rich, satisfying layers that hit the spot on cooler days. Fish and Chips are another frequent pick, featuring a crisp batter paired with house-made slaw, though some find the seasoning on sides can be a bit subtle—for those who prefer more pronounced flavors, a few extra shakes of salt and pepper help. For those looking to sample more traditional pub flavors, the Reuben Sandwich earns solid praise for its balance of savory ingredients.

Dishes like Short Ribs and Lamb Shank are tender and filling, making this a solid choice for a leisurely dinner rather than a quick bite. The Corn Chowder served in a bread bowl is a warming option, while appetizers like Crispy Calamari and Irish Nachos offer shareable starters that set a convivial tone. The dessert menu, including Bread Pudding, provides a sweet finish with unique interpretations that avoid being overly heavy.

Fitzpatrick's is well suited to families (kids tend to finish their meals here), casual groups looking to catch up over pints like the Black & Tan Guinness & Harp, or visitors seeking a pause from exploring Solvang with honest comfort food. Lunchtimes and early evenings during weekdays tend to be calmer, while weekends and holiday periods fill up faster, reflecting its spot as a local staple.

Overall, Fitzpatrick's Tavern offers a grounded Irish dining experience that’s approachable and hearty. It’s a place you head to when you want familiar flavors, a friendly setting, and a break from the standard tourist fare that’s typical around Solvang’s more tourist-heavy spots.

It was a great experience. We waited in line to be seated. The wait was long but acceptable because of the holidays. The food was great, tasty, and even the kids finished all their food. We will keep this place on the list next time we visit Solvang.

Overall a good experience. Unfortunately the food was under seasoned. My husband got the fish and chips with coleslaw. The batter on the fish was very nice but the coleslaw was way under seasoned. My son got Mac n cheese which he enjoyed after adding a lot of salt and pepper to each layer. I got the short ribs. They were cooked well. Nice and tender but the mashed potatoes were watery and a little cold.

Nice Pub located in town. The food was good the service could’ve been better. I felt like the staff served us and just forgot we were sitting here. The Reuben sandwich is amazing ! The fish and chips were good/average. Fries were tasty it was in a wedge form. If I come back I’ll get the Reuben sandwich but I’ll have to be craving this to come back .

First time at this restaurant, which did not disappoint. The Calamari appetizer was perfect. Husband ordered the Shepherd's Pie and he loved it. I ordered the Short Ribs plate, which came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. It was delicious! Dessert was Bread pudding which was different than what I'm used to, however it did not disappoint. Fitzpatrick's is also a dog friendly restaurant which is a plus for us as we travel with our fur baby.

You can't go wrong if you are looking for a taste of Irish with a spin. We sat outside since the weather was gorgeous and wanted to continue watching the view. First, I should mention there is no bathroom in restaurant, it is outside in the building next door (it was clean). We ordered the Irish nachos, Shepard pie and macaroni and four cheese with chicken. Everything was really good and hot. The corned beef on salty nachos was a fun twist to nachos. The Shepard pie was a classic and very good. Adding chicken to the macaroni and cheese brought it up a couple notches. A good place to stop and eat after walking around.
